GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS

  • A valid visa is required to enter Cameroon according to the provisions of Law No. 97/012 of 10 January 1997 as amended by Law No. 2022/015 of 14 July 2022 and Decree No.2023/147 of 02 March 2023 to lay the conditions for the implementation of Law No.97/012 of 10 January 1997.
  • The  Decree No.2023/147 of 02 March 2023 lays down the conditions of implementation of Law No. 97/012 of 10 January 1997 on the conditions of entry, stay and exit for aliens in Cameroon.
  • Ordinary passport holders must introduce visa applications and pay the related fees exclusively through the online portal.
  • Diplomatic and Service/Official passport holders should submit visa applications directly to the Embassy either in-person or by email/mail (for further information, contact the Embassy).
  • Visa applications will be given consideration within 72 hours on working days for normal processing and within 24 hours on working days for express processing.
  • Diplomatic, courtesy and official visas bear no fees and are being handled under normal processing.
  • In case of refusal of the visa, the applicant shall receive a notification within 3 (three) days of filing of the application.

VISA CATEGORIES

The Cameroon ordinary entry visa is issued with single or multiple entries for the three categories of visas:

  • TRANSIT VISA

(up to 5 days validity)

  • SHORT STAY VISA 

(up to 6 months validity)

  • LONG STAY VISA

(from 6 to 12 months validity).

VISA REQUIREMENTS

IMPORTANT

  • A valid passport or travel document with a validity of at least 6 (six) months;
  • The following documents must be scanned in PDF file and uploaded during your pre-enrolment procedure on the website.  
  • Please note that photographed documents, screenshots will be not accepted
  • Each required document has to be scanned separately; do not scan many documents by reducing its size on one page.  
  • After uploading documents, double check all the information in the form before submitting.

FOR ORDINARY VISA

〇 Transit Visa

Could be provided:

  • Official document legalized by authorities of the Port indicating the flight/vessel itinerary and departure date within
  • 5 days from the date the applicant plan to enter Cameroon;
  • Any other document that proves the applicant will leave Cameroon within 5 days;
  • A visa or authorization to enter the country of final destination, where applicable;
  • Required international vaccination certificates.

〇 Short-Stay Visa

  • Passport information page;
  • An air ticket or a round-trip air ticket or, where necessary, a customs clearance pass;
  • Required international vaccination certificates;
  • Proof of purpose of the visit;
  • Sufficient means of subsistence for the duration of the stay;
  • A certificate of employment or a letter from the employer;
  • An accommodation certificate issued by the person who undertakes to lodge the visitor, signed by the mayor with territorial jurisdiction OR an invitation to an event organized on the national territory, OR a firm hotel reservation for the planned duration of the stay;
  • A mission warrant, where applicable.
  • Additional supporting documents could be requested by the Embassy when applicable.

〇 Long-Stay Visa

  • A passport or travel document valid for more than 6 (six) months;
  • A plane ticket or any travel ticket valid up to Cameroon;
  • Required international vaccination certificates;
  • Repatriation deposit;
  • A registration or re-registration certificate issued by the head of the institution for students;
  • An internship certificate signed by the relevant authority, for interns;
  • A contract of employment signed by the Minister in charge of employment, for aliens wishing to be salaried employees in Cameroon;
  • An authorization to carry out a liberal profession or promote an agricultural, pastoral, industrial, commercial, artistic or other activity, issued by the relevant authority, where required;
  • Proof of marital relationship, for the spouse, or parental relationship for minor children.
  • Additional supporting documents could be requested by the Embassy when applicable.

VISA FOR MINORS / INFANTS

  • Common documents mentioned above;
  • Parental Authorization legalized by competent authorities;
  • Copy of passport information page of parent(s)/guardian travelling with the child;
  • Flight itinerary of both the child and parent/guardian with whon he/she is travelling;
  • Any other documents that proves parental relation with the child (Birth Certificate, etc).

FOR DIPLOMATIC, COURTESY VISAS

  • Application Form for Diplomatic & Courtesy Visa to download duly filled and signed;
  • A diplomatic/official passport or travel document valid for more than 6 (six) months;
  • A Note Verbale from competent authorities under the jurisdiction of the Embassy;
  • Required international vaccination certificates;
  • A plane ticket or any travel ticket valid up to Cameroon;
  •  Proof of purpose of the visit;
  • An accommodation certificate issued by the person who undertakes to lodge the visitor, signed by the mayor with territorial jurisdiction OR an invitation to an event organized on the national territory, OR a firm hotel reservation for the planned duration of the stay;
  • Those traveling for employment should provide a copy of an official document indicating the reason for their stay (employment contract, employment appointment letter, …);
  • A mission warrant, where applicable.

  1. The list of countries Cameroon has signed the Visa Exemption Aggreement for holders of Diplomatic and Service Passports as above.
  2. Nigeria  (free movement for everybody, just need to present an official document).
  3. Mail  (Agreement on the Free Movement of Persons and Goods) expense free visa for holders of ordinary passport.

ONLINE VISA APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Applying for an entry visa to Cameroon shall start with an online pre-registration, followed by the payment of the fees provided for by the laws in force. The dedicated platform for online visa application (enrolment and payment) could be access here .

The new application and processing stages stand as follows:

  1. Online pre-enrolment:

Visa applicants sign-up online by creating an user account, fill out the online information form, upload required documents according to the type of visa, and pay the required fees online via several payment methods. 

  1. Online payment of visa fees:

Using one of payment options (credit card, electronic payment). The applicant receives a notification of proof of payment via email or SMS.

  1. Processing of the Application:

After the pre-enrolment, at least 03 working days for normal processing visa and 01 day working day or express visa, the applicant should open his account in the evisa  platform and download the Visa Authorization with a QR Code.  It should be noted that this Authorization is sufficient to travel to Cameroon. 

  1. Affixing of the visa sticker

There is two options:

(a)  The visa is issued for those applicants who can visit the Embassy in Tokyo. The latter shall receive via e-mail an auto-generated notification to enable them to book an in-person appointment in order to undergo the required biometric formalities. On the day of the appointment, each applicant should bring a valid passport and original copies of all supporting documents uploaded during online pre-enrolment. The visa sticker will be affixed on the applicant’s passport by the Embassy;(b) For applicants who cannot visit the Embassy for their biometric formalities, they are allowed to travel to Cameroon with the printed copy of the Visa Authorization with QR Code and original copies of all supporting documents. They will accomplish their biometric formalities and get a visa sticker affixed on their passport at the border control post when entering Cameroon.

VISA FEES

  • Transit visa (5 days)
  • GRATIS 

  • Ordinary short-stay visa (6 months)
  • XAF 100 000 (approximately JPY30 000)

  • Short-stay express visa (6 months):
  • XAF 150 000 (approximately JPY50 000)

  • Ordinary long-stay visa (12 months):    
  • XAF 150 000 (approximately JPY50 000)  

  • Long-stay express visa (12 months):   
  •  XAF 200 000 (approximately JPY60 000)

    Remarks : the amount of fees between the website information and the real-time payment would be different because of the bank(s) charge and tax.

    NB: In the event of visa refusal or cancellation of the application for any reason, visa fees are not refundable.
